Healthy Oregon Project
The Healthy Oregon Project is a research study that combines genetic cancer screening and saliva samples with surveys about a person’s environment, behaviors, and lifestyle to help people better understand their cancer and chronic disease risks. A collaboration between SCR, the Knight Cancer Institute, Kaiser Permanente, Providence Cancer Institute, OCHIN, and the Oregon Health Authority, the project has already enrolled over 4,500 Oregonians.
SCR Associate Dr. Autumn Shafer is developing the overall strategy for recruitment communication and public communication for the project, including the message content and channels. Dr. Shafer is the liaison between the website designer, social media buyer, graphic design specialist, and Healthy Oregon Project principle investigators and staff. She conducts formative and implementation research on message effectiveness and adapts communication and marketing strategies as needed.
